Do we need to be at every practice? In order for players to progress as individuals and as a team, players need to attend consistently. Understandably, coaches find it very difficult to move forward if players are dipping in and out. It is also not fair on teammates as the whole team is affected. Full commitment is expected at all age levels.
How often is practice on? Players generally practice once per week. Friendly and competitive games will be organised for all squads with nearby clubs throughout the season. These often happen on weekends but evening mid-week games are possible.
Will I need to travel for games? Yes. Parents will need to bring players to home and away games. Typically these games are within the Wexford/Wicklow area.
Do we need to buy club kit? The club will provide kit for games. You are welcome to order from the club online shop if you wish. The online shop is managed and operated by a 3rd party. The Club does not make any revenue from sales and is not responsible for delivery.
Parent Supervision Rota All the club coaches are volunteers, Garda Vetted and commit a lot of time to supporting the players. If there is only one coach available for a training session,we ask that at least one parent is present in the training hall for Child Protection reasons.
What else do we need to do? Along with completing your club membership, players must also register with Basketball Ireland annually.
N.B. Only register with BI if you are a club member
This is mandatory for insurance reasons and players must not attend club activities until they have registered with BI.
